Altar Servers - Altar Servers assist the priests and deacons in the celebration of Sunday and daily Masses, Weddings, Funerals and other special Liturgical events. Being an Altar Server enables our young people to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of their faith and of the Liturgy of the Church. Altar
Society - is the core group that regularly serves at funeral dinners,
welcomes new babies to the parish, and works at special event
planning for the parish. Music Ministry.- The members of the parish choir serve with pride, integrity and dedication to our ministry. Through our efforts we hope to uplift the congregation through music and to encourage the active participation of all members and visitors in the Holy Prayer of the Mass. Eucharistic Ministers - assist in administering the Eucharist to parishioners during parish liturgies. Eucharistic ministers also distribute the Eucharist to the hospitalized, homebound and those residing in our local nursing homes. Training provided. Knights of Columbus - The Father George Fangauer Council is an integral part of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Duncan, Oklahoma. Lectors - Lectors proclaim readings (and occasionally responsorial psalms) for Sunday and/or Holy Day Masses. Lectors are required to attend a training session at least once a year and, after the training they are commissioned to serve. Parish Council - the parish council's role is to assist the pastor in identifying parish needs and in the planning and evaluation of parish programs. Religious Education - classes for young people aim at developing an awareness of the riches of the Catholic tradition and encourage the spiritual and moral growth of the student. Rite of Christian Iniitiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) - What is RCIA? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process of study, exploration, and faith formation (with specific liturgical and paraliturgical Rites) for seekers and inquirers. Seekers and Inquirers are non-baptized adults who desire to be fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Church and/or baptized adult Christians who desire full communion in the Roman Catholic Church. Sacristans - are responsible for setting up and clearing away the altar and the sanctuary for services, as well as for the cleaning and maintenance of the ecclesiastical silverware and linens. St.
Vincent de Paul Society - offers assistance to those who have fallen upon
times of hardship and personal crisis. Ways in which St. Vincent de
Paul helps include providing food, clothing, housing assistance, utility
assistance, and furniture. Youth Ministry - seeks to draw our junior and high school youth to participate in the life, mission, and work of our faith community.
