St. Vincent de Paul

Our mission is to serve those in need...

The St. Vincent De Paul Society was founded by Frederick Ozanam in Paris in 1833. Ozanam, a Parisian student leader, belonged to a debate society that discussed social and political issues of the day. The more he talked about the plight of the poor, the more he realized that their problems needed action, not talk. He began to visit the needy in the slums of Paris, and to organize his friends and associates in these visits. This was the birth of the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

A short twelve years later, the Society opened its doors in the U.S.; 1995 marked the 150th anniversary of that American beginning.

Today, this international lay volunteer Catholic organization has more than one million members worldwide and active branches in 135 separate countries.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Assumption Parish is dedicated to serving people in need, regardless of race or religion.

St. Vincent de Paul  offers assistance to those who have fallen upon times of hardship and personal crisis. Ways in which St. Vincent de Paul helps include providing food, clothing, housing assistance, utility assistance, and furniture.

St Vincent de Paul meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the All Purpose Room or for more information about joining the St. Vincent de Paul Society or helping aid us in our mission, please contact the Parish Office.
